The county is located on the Delmarva Peninsula on the east bank of Chesapeake Bay and borders Delaware to the north . Wicomico County covers an area of ​​1,035 square kilometers, of which 59 square kilometers (5.66 percent) are water. It borders on the following counties:

history

Wicomico County was formed in 1867 from parts of Somerset and Worcester Counties. It was named after the Wicomico River that flows through the county.

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census , Wicomico County had 98,733 people in 36,262 households. The population density was 101.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.47 people lived in each of the 36,262 households.

The racial the population was composed of 68.7 percent white, 24.2 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 2.5 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 2.5 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 4.5 percent of the population.
