The county is located on the Delmarva Peninsula on the east bank of Chesapeake Bay and borders Delaware to the north . Wicomico County covers an area of 1,035 square kilometers, of which 59 square kilometers (5.66 percent) are water. It borders on the following counties:

history
Wicomico County was formed in 1867 from parts of Somerset and Worcester Counties. It was named after the Wicomico River that flows through the county.

Demographic data
According to the 2010 census , Wicomico County had 98,733 people in 36,262 households. The population density was 101.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. Statistically, 2.47 people lived in each of the 36,262 households.
The racial the population was composed of 68.7 percent white, 24.2 percent African American, 0.2 percent Native American, 2.5 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 2.5 percent were descended from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 4.5 percent of the population.
23.3 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 63.3 percent were between 18 and 64 and 13.4 percent were 65 years or older. 52.2 percent of the population was female.
The median income for a household was 46,404 USD . The per capita income was $ 25,935. 13.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
