Sibagat is a Filipino municipality in the province of Agusan del Sur . The borough is 18 miles from Butuan City . The economy is very dependent on subsistence farming .
Origin of name
The name Sibagat is derived from the word bagat ( meeting , or meeting point ).
According to oral history, the river near Sigabat, which is also called Sigabat, was the scene or meeting point for battles between warring tribes.
Most of the residents of the municipality are migrants from Visayas and here mainly from Cebu .
