The county is located on the Delmarva Peninsula on the east bank of Chesapeake Bay and has an area of ​​1,235 square kilometers; of which 536 square kilometers (46.4 percent) are water surfaces. It borders on the following counties:

history

Talbot County was formed in 1661 from parts of Kent County. It was named after Grace, Lady Talbot , sister of Cæcilius Calvert, 2nd Baron Baltimore .

Five sites in Prince George's County have National Historic Landmark status due to their historical significance . 63 buildings and sites in the county are registered in the National Register of Historic Places (as of November 14, 2017).
