Acquisitions and Spin-Offs

In 2006, Deloitte took over the GEBERA-Gesellschaft für Betriebswirtschaftliche Beratung mbH, which was previously based in Cologne, and thus acquired 30 years of consulting expertise in the healthcare sector. In the same year, Innova AG, based in Essen and Berlin, was taken over in order to increase competencies in the real estate sector.

In 2012, the Deloitte Group took over Raupach & Wollert-Elmendorff Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft, with which a 15-year cooperation had already existed. It has been operating under the name Deloitte Legal since then.

The Monitor Deloitte strategy consultancy has also been part of the Deloitte Group since the 2013/14 financial year. She advises companies, governments and NGOs on their way to sustainable growth.

Deloitte Digital GmbH was founded in the 2013/14 financial year. The new subsidiary advises German and international companies as well as the public sector on their digitization strategies and develops new digital business models together with customers.

Nearly takeover of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants

According to press reports, Deloitte negotiated a global acquisition of the management consultancy Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in 2010 . The deal was as good as wrapped up when Roland Berger's partners spoke out against their management's proposal. According to industry experts, the merger would have made economic sense; after McKinsey , it would have created the world's second largest strategy consultant at the time. Roland Berger would have brought in a strong brand and massively increased its own international reach in one fell swoop. However, their own independence and their own name were apparently more valuable to the partners. Company founder Roland Berger felt compelled to intervene and subsequently invested an amount in the mid double-digit million range. In general, the different corporate cultures were viewed as an integration risk.

According to new press reports, Roland Berger Strategy Consultants examined another sale three years later, in 2013, Deloitte was again under discussion as a potential buyer, as were competitors such as Ernst & Young , PricewaterhouseCoopers and KPMG . This time the project also had an important supporter in Roland Berger himself. This time, too, the project was finally put to an end by the partners at the end of 2013 after the management and the supervisory board had recommended it.
