Delos Thurber
Delos Thurber ( Delos Packard Thurber ; born November 23, 1916 in Los Angeles , † May 12, 1987 in San Diego ) was an American high jumper .
At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, he jumped 2.00 m. Since only his compatriot Cornelius Johnson had mastered 2.03 m, there was a playoff between Thurber, the American Dave Albritton and the Finn Kalevi Kotkas , in which Albritton won silver and Thurber bronze.
Delos Thurber graduated from the University of Southern California and became an airplane pilot in the Philippines after World War II .
