δ Ursae Minoris (Delta Ursae Minoris, δ UMi for short ) is a main sequence star of spectral class A approximately 180 light-years away from the Sun with an apparent magnitude of 4.4 mag.
δ Ursae Minoris has the proper name Yildun from the Turkish yıldız , "star"; Due to the precession of the earth, Yildun was considered by Turkish astronomers to be the North Star around 1500 . Other spellings are: Gildun, Vildiur, Yilduz. Another possible proper name is Pherkard .
