Delungra

Delungra is a small town in the northeast of the Australian state of New South Wales . It is located 33 km west of Inverell and 43 km northeast of Bingara in the Local Government Area Inverell Shire .

history

In 1907 Delungra received city rights and therefore celebrated its 100th birthday on Australia Day 2007. The former Reedy Creek post office was renamed Delungra on June 11, 1906 .

Events

Delungra has two equestrian events per year, camp drafting in March and an equestrian weekend in October. In 2007, of all places, this had to be canceled because of the equine flu.

There are also a number of other events, such as For example, a parade on Australia Day on January 26th or a Christmas carols parade by candlelight. On April 25th and November 11th there are memorial services for those who died in the war.

There are no official weather records for Delungra, but the post office there has been recording the rains since November 1924. Previously, Gunnee Station (5 miles north of Delungra) recorded rainfall from 1879 to 1924. The following statistics of rainfall up to September 2011 resulted:

Delungra is located on the Gwydir Highway , Australian Route 38, over which the northeastern part of the Fossickers Way runs.
