Bojang first joined the People's Progressive Party (PPP), later the National Convention Party (NCP). After the elected representative of the Bakau constituency, Bakary P. Camara (NCP), died in 1978, by-elections were scheduled for the constituency in June 1978. Bojang, who was still working in the Department of Agriculture, was able to win this constituency for himself and therefore received his nickname "Dembo By Force". In the parliamentary elections in 1982 , 1987 and 1992 Bojang was able to defend the constituency. After the coup of Yahya Jammeh , the political activities of the NCP were banned and Bojang became a member of the United Democratic Party (UDP). In the 1997 parliamentary elections , Bojang stood in the constituency of Bakau as a candidate for UDP, regained a majority and thus a seat in the National Assembly . In the parliamentary elections in 2002 , the UDP boycotted the elections and Bojang then no longer stood as a candidate in his previous constituency.

Bojang has been National President of the UDP since at least 2010 and is part of the party leadership and the 2016 Coalition .

President Adama Barrow chose Bojang as Special Advisor for Religious and Traditional Affairs ( English Special Advisor on Religious and Traditional Affairs ) of the government.
