Demetrius Rozenits

Demetrius Rozenits or Rozenich (born October 26, 1874 in Großwarasdorf , Burgenland , † January 18, 1933 in Parndorf , Burgenland) was an Austrian clergyman and politician . He was a member of the Burgenland Croats ethnic group .

Life

Demetrius Rozenits, the son of a farmer , completed elementary school and grammar school and then studied theology in the Hungarian city ​​of Győr from 1894 to 1898 . In the same year, 1898, he was ordained a priest.

In the next five years Rozenitzs worked as a chaplain and pastor in Jánossomorja and Parndorf before he was appointed pastor of the parish in Neudorf in 1903. When Parndorf and Neudorf merged to form Parndorf in 1928, Rozenits also took over the management of Parndorf from 1928 until his death.

In November 1923 Rozenits was elected to the National Council as a member of the Christian Social Party (CSP) . But after only two months in office, he resigned from the still young democratic body at the beginning of January 1924.

As a member of the Croatian Cultural Association, Rozenits took care of the interests of his ethnic group, the Burgenland Croats. Since he was also elected Vice President of the Association of Agricultural Spirits Distilleries in Austria, he also contributed to Burgenland's economic boom in the interwar period.

In 1932, shortly before his death, he was given the title of clergyman .
