The Empire of Denanke , also known as the Empire of Denianke or Empire of Great Fulo , was a kingdom of the Fula in present-day Senegal .

In 1514 the empire was founded by Manga , the founder of the Denanke dynasty. He made Tekrur the capital.

The Fula of Denanke were followers of a traditional religion . They were superior to their neighbors through the use of cavalry. They waged wars against the Mandinka in the east, the Wolof in the south, the Mali Empire and the Songhai Empire .

In 1776 Denanke was subject to Abd-el-Kadr Toorodi , Almami of Futa Toro , which led to the rule of Islamic Fulani in the region.
