Deng Mengrong

Deng Mengrong ( Chinese  鄧 猛 榮 , Pinyin Dèng Měngróng ; * March 5, 1990 ) is a Chinese weightlifter . In 2014 she became world champion in the weight class up to 58 kg.

Career

Deng Mengrong is from the Guangxi Autonomous Region . She started lifting weights there as a teenager. Details of who discovered her when and who her trainer is are not yet known. Her first start at an international championship took place in June 2009. She won all three titles (duel, snatch and push) at the Junior World Championship (U 20) in Bucharest in the weight class up to 58 kg with 218 kg (98-120) . In October 2009 she also took part in the Chinese championship for women in the same weight class, where she increased her duel performance to 234 kg (106-128). Nevertheless, with this very good performance, she only came in 7th place, which shows the enormous strength in Chinese women's weightlifting both in top and in breadth.

In April 2010 Deng Mengrong became Asian junior champion (U 20) in the weight class up to 58 kg in Tashkent. A duel of 221 kg (98–123) was enough for her. Two months later, she was again Junior World Champion (U 20) in duels, snatching and pushing in Sofia with exactly the same performance.

In 2011 she came in the Chinese championship of women in the weight class up to 63 kg with 236 kg (104-132) behind Zhou Wenyu, who came to 240 kg (108-132) in 2nd place. It was not used at international championships that year. In April 2012 she was in Pyoengtaek / South Korea in the weight class up to 63 kg with a duel of 244 kg (108-136) Asian champion before Zhou Wenyu , who also achieved 244 kg (108-136), but was a little heavier than her. Deng Mengrong was not used at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. This was primarily due to the fact that the IOC in women's weightlifting in six Olympic weight classes had limited the number of participants to four even in the strongest nations. In London, for example, in the weight class up to 63 kg, an athlete from another country became Olympic champion with a performance that was far below that of Deng Mengrong.

2013 Deng Mengrong was in the weight class up to 63 kg with a duel of 251 kg (113-138) for the first time Chinese champion in the women. It was then used in this weight class at the World Championships that year in Wrocław. There, however, with 244 kg (108–136), she did not quite come close to this performance and took 3rd place behind Tima Turiewa , Russia, 252 kg (112–140) and Jo Pok-hyang , North Korea, 249 kg (109–140) . Space.

At the Chinese championship in 2014 she switched back to the weight class up to 58 kg body weight and was again Chinese champion with a duel of 233 kg (103-130). She was also at the start in this weight class at this year's World Championships in Almaty. She achieved 235 kg (105-130) in a duel in Almaty and was the first time world champion in women before Ri Jong-hwa , North Korea, 232 kg (99-133) and Sukanya Srisurat , Thailand, 231 kg (106-125).
