Origin of name

The place name goes back to the ancient name of the Denghausen farming family (Denghusen, Denkhausen, Denghaußen). religion

Although Denghausen belongs to the evangelical Oldenburg parish of the approx. 8 km distant town of Wildeshausen, the Denghausen residents felt they belonged to the evangelical Diepholz parish of Colnrade which is only one kilometer away. As early as 1679, they were named there as donors of a large, valuable chandelier and a candlestick. These donations are among the oldest valuables in the possession of the Colnrad Church to this day, as much was lost through looting during the Thirty Years' War .
