Denis Alexandrowitsch Platonow ( Russian Денис Александрович Платонов ; born November 6, 1981 in Saratov , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who was most recently under contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the Continental Hockey League .
Career
Denis Platonow began his career as a hockey player with Kristall Saratow , for which he was active from 1999 to 2002 in the second-rate Wysschaja Liga . During this time he was selected in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft in the third round as a total of 75th player by the Nashville Predators . Initially, however, the attacker played for another season in Russia, where he was on the ice for Ak Bars Kazan in the Super League .
Before the 2003/04 season , Platonov was included in the squad of the Milwaukee Admirals , the farm team of the Nashville Predators, for which he only played three games in the American Hockey League before returning to his Russian homeland, where he again signed a contract received in Kazan. Towards the end of the 2004/05 season, Plantonow first moved to Kazan's league rivals Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk , before signing with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk in the summer , with whom he won the Spengler Cup in 2005. In addition, Platonov and his team became Russian champions for the first time in his career in 2007 and in 2008 won the IIHF European Champions Cup with his team. In the 2008/09 season reached Platonov with Metallurg the final in the inaugural Champions Hockey League , where he and his team the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A defeated.
From May 2011 Platonow played for HK Awangard Omsk . In December 2011, he moved within the Continental Hockey League to Salawat Yulayev Ufa , before returning to Metallurg Magnitogorsk in May 2012 and signed a two-year contract. With Metallurg he won the KHL championship trophy , the Gagarin Cup , in 2014 .
