The monument area Kloster Pforte is a listed area in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt . The area is recorded in the local monument register under registration number 094 30637.

General

The monument area is a monastery landscape dating back to the 12th century. The area is shaped by the shaping of the landscape for monastic life. Forests and quarries were created, dams for flood protection, supply and discharge of utility and industrial water through the construction of the Kleine Saale , a tributary of the Saale , during the cultivation of wine on the south and south-east mountain slopes. Much of the area was owned by the monastery or were in a relationship with the monastery. Traces of the use of the area can be traced back to the 12th century and some of them are still preserved. B. ravine systems, pathways in the woods, boundary stones, hydraulic engineering systems, dry stone walls. The Galgenberg , southwest of the monastery, is a testimony to the monastic jurisdiction.

The monastery landscape was placed under monument protection in 2017.

The monument area Kloster Pforte includes areas in the districts of Almrich , Bad Kösen , Flemmingen , Fränkenau , Kukulau and Schulpforte from the city of Naumburg , as well as in the district of Niedermöllern from the municipality of Lanitz-Hassel-Tal . In the monument area are the Köppelberg, also under monument protection, and the former Cistercian monastery Kloster Pforte. During the Middle Ages, there was a large trunk road nearby, a via regia .
