Dennis Dijkzeul

Dennis Dijkzeul (born July 14, 1966 in Amsterdam ) is the first professor for the management of humanitarian crises at a German university.

Career

Dijkzeul studied business administration at the Free University of Amsterdam from 1984 to 1999 and at the Rotterdam School of Management at the Erasmus University from 1990 to 1997 and philosophy at both universities from 1987 to 1991. He has a PhD in Management of Multilateral Organizations. He then worked for the UN , in Africa and Latin America. He helped shape the United Nation's humanitarian programs in Geneva and New York. He worked in the Congo for the International Rescue Committee . From 1999 to 2002 he headed the program for humanitarian issues at Columbia University , after which he received a junior professorship at the Institute for Peacekeeping Law and International Humanitarian Law (IFHV) at Ruhr University Bochum on October 4, 2002 and is involved in the German Institute for Poverty Reduction Dijkzeul tries together with the European University Network on Humanitarian Assistance (NOHA) to establish a European course in humanitarian aid.
