Dennis Elsas

Denis Elsas is an American radio host from New York . His show runs daily on WFUV New York City.

Elsas is from Queens and became famous for his music shows and interviews with musicians. He first worked for WNEW -FM, a well-known New York rock station with the slogan "Where Rock Lives." As music director, he made the station one of the most renowned progressive radio stations in the country. He interviewed Pete Townshend , Mick Jagger , Paul McCartney and John Lennon . His 1974 interview with Lennon is considered a contemporary document and was recorded as one of the first audio documents in the Paley Center for Media (formerly the Museum of Television and Radio ). After 25 years at WNEW , he switched to the public radio station WFUV .

Awards

His show about the Beatles won a. a. the New York State Broadcasters Association Best Documentary and the New York Festivals World Medal .

Private life

Elsas lives today (as of 2016) with his family in Westchester.
