Dennis Maelzer (born February 28, 1980 in Detmold ) is a German politician ( SPD ) from the Lippe district and has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalia state parliament since June 9, 2010 .

Life

Growing up in the Detmold district of Heidenoldendorf , Maelzer graduated from the Stadtgymnasium Detmold high school. From 2000 to 2006 he studied political science at the Leibniz University in Hanover with the minor subjects German and media studies. From 2002 to 2007 Maelzer worked as a freelancer for a local newspaper. From 2007 to 2014 he did his doctorate in Hanover on the subject of health reforms, which he completed with a dissertation entitled "Politics well advised? Learning processes in German health reforms". Until October 2010 he was a lecturer at the Institute for Political Science at Leibniz Universität Hannover.

Maelzer has been a member of the SPD since 1999. From 2005 he was chairman of the SPD local association Heidenoldendorf. Since 2008 he has been on the state party council of the SPD North Rhine-Westphalia and city councilor in Detmold. In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2010 , Dennis Maelzer won the Lippe III state electoral district with 45.3 percent of the first votes. His predecessor as constituency representative was Manfred Luckey from the CDU until 2010 . In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2012 , Dennis Maelzer defended the Lippe III state electoral district with 45.2 percent of the first votes. In the state elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2017 , he was able to regain his state parliament mandate with 40.8 percent of the first votes.
