The Junín Department is located in the northern center of the Mendoza Province in western Argentina and is one of 18 administrative units in the province. It is the smallest department in the province and is known as the Jardín de Mendoza ( Mendoza's Garden).
It is bordered to the north and east by the department of San Martín , to the southeast by the department of Santa Rosa , to the south by the department of Rivadavia and to the west by the department of Luján de Cuyo and to the northwest by the department of Maipú .
The capital of the department Junín is the same Junín .

history
The name Junín is derived from Quechua ( suni or suinin ). It commemorates the battle of Junín on August 6, 1824 in the Pampas de Junín del Alto Perú (today: Bolivia ).
The founding date of June is January 18, 1859 . The Virgen del Rosario was appointed as patroness .
economy
About 90 percent of the area of the department is used for agriculture, mainly for growing wine and olives. Poultry production was also expanded.
