The Departamento Veinticinco de Mayo is located in the south of the province of Río Negro in southern Argentina and is one of 13 administrative units in the province.
It is bordered to the north by the department of El Cuy , to the east by the department of Nueve de Julio , to the south by the province of Chubut and to the west by the department of Ñorquincó .
The capital of the Department of Veinticinco de Mayo is Maquinchao .
