Depot II from Písek

The Písek Depot II (also Hortfund II von Písek ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Písek in Jihočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates between 2000 and 1800 BC. The depot is now in the National Museum in Prague .

Find history

The depot was first mentioned in 1928. The exact location and the circumstances of the find are unknown. There is probably a connection with the Bronze Age hill settlement on Velký Mehelník .

A total of five depot finds come from Písek, three of which ( I , II and V ) belong to the Aunjetitz culture and two ( III and IV ) belong to the late Bronze Age . There are also several individual finds of bronze objects .

composition

The depot consists of two bronze eyelet neck rings or ring bars . They are roughly forged and have an irregular angular cross-section. The surfaces have clear facets . There is a groove on the inside. The driven ends are tapered and bent like a check mark.
