The Chvalšiny Depot (also known as the Chvalšiny hoard ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Chvalšiny in Jihočeský kraj , Czech Republic . It dates to between 1800 and 1600 BC. Today the depot is located in the Regional Museum in Český Krumlov .

Find history

The depot was discovered in 2007 while plowing a field south of Chvalšiny. This was followed by an archaeological follow-up examination. It was probably originally laid in an artificial pit in a rock outcrop with a length of 1.2 m and a width of 1 m. The plow had moved it over an area of 15 × 15 m.

The Havalda depot from the same period was discovered 3 km from the site in 1904 .

composition

When examining the site, a total of 66 bronze objects were found, most of which are only fragments. Many fit together, so it can be assumed that the depot originally consisted of 46 bars . The total weight of the finds is 1947 g.
