BC and is now divided between the South Bohemian Museum in Budweis and the Regional Museum in Český Krumlov .

Find history

The depot was discovered in October 1904 in the parish forest near Havalda, about 2.8 km northwest of Chvalšiny while plowing in a field. The site is on the southwest slope of a small hill east of the Trebovický brook . During a follow-up archaeological investigation, only one ceramic shard was found.

In 2007, 3 km from the site, the Chvalšiny deposit from the same period was discovered.

composition

The depot originally consisted of 165 bronze bars . 100 of these were bought by the Budweiser Museum in May 1906, and a further 16 were bought in January 1907. 20 of these bars were later given to the museum in Český Krumlov, but two of them were lost. Three bars that were originally in the Horní Planá Museum and one from the Museum in Lišov were later also brought to Český Krumlov, so that there are now a total of 22 bars. There are only 92 bars left in Ceske Budejovice, four more are missing, as are all the specimens that did not reach the museums. 19 were probably melted down by a bell caster . The total weight of all 165 bars was around 35 kg.
