The Lužice Depot (also known as the Lužice hoard ) is a depot find of the Early Bronze Age Aunjetitz culture from Lužice , a former village in the area of the municipality of Kadaň in Ústecký kraj , Czech Republic . It dates to between 1800 and 1600 BC. Today the depot is in the regional museum in Most .

Find history

The depot was discovered on November 24, 1964 between the two villages of Lužice and Tušimice when the Čachovický brook was being laid . About 700 m to the northeast there was a settlement at the same time on a hilltop. The site is now built over by an industrial area. The place Lužice had to give way to an open- cast brown coal mine in 1972 .

composition

The depot consists of 15 bronze objects : six arm spirals , a chisel , a lance tip , six mushroom-headed needles and an awl . The spirals are cylindrical and made from a narrow ribbon. In some places they have a decor of zigzag lines and notches. The ends are partly straight, partly tick-like. The needles have a round shaft and an ornate and perforated head. The awl is pointed and thickened in the middle.
