The countdown is on is the second mixtape by Munich rapper Ali As on Deluxe Records . It was released on May 16, 2008, distributed by Groove Attack. It forms the middle part of the so-called "bomb trilogy". This was preceded by the mixtape How do you build a bomb? , the trilogy was completed with the album Bombe in October 2008.

The first single, Zoom Zoom Zoom , was released on November 11, 2007. The second single, The countdown is running , which was created in collaboration with Tai Jason , premiered on May 2, 2008 on the mixeryrawdeluxe.tv website.
The mixtape or prealbum was not originally planned, because immediately after the mixtape. How do you build a bomb? Ali A $ bomb's first studio album was to be released. Ali As decided, however, to prefer another mixtape to the album, so that on May 16, 2008 The Countdown was released. For the mixtape, Ali As showed himself to be very keen to experiment in terms of features and production. Reviews
On the website "webbeatz.de" the mixtape gets two out of a possible five points. The critic justifies this with the fact that "after listening to the 16 tracks hardly anything sticks". Thirteen rather "disappointing tracks" stand in the way of "only three tracks" that "contain more substance". These are Yesterday & Today , God and The Two . The author states that "despite well-known producers such as Monroe and Tai Jason, only a few musical highlights can be found and the lyrics are almost completely interchangeable", since they "hardly reveal their own style".
According to Jamil Bhuiyan from "hamburghiphop.de", Ali As brings "bizarre content" across in a "very unique way" in terms of rhyme. The mixtape is "entertaining and coherent", and the "necessary seriousness" is also present. Nevertheless, the "aha-effect" did not materialize, and in terms of sound technology there was still "a lot to be achieved". Bhuiyan is positive about the rapper's willingness to experiment when it comes to features, and he highlights the track with Eko Fresh .
