The Boy Scout (original title: Следопыт , Sledopyt ) is the Russian film adaptation of the novel of the same name by James Fenimore Cooper , made in 1987 . In the German-speaking area, the film received its premiere on April 6, 1989 at the DFF .

In 1758, Mabel Duncan, the 16-year-old daughter of a British sergeant, traveled to live with her father at a fort on the shores of Lake Ontario. The scout Sangli, hired by the French, creates dangerous dangers as he intrigues against the English; then she is kidnapped by the Seneca tribe, who want to employ the garrison stationed in the fort. A young hunter, Nat Bumppo, who is known as the Boy Scout, opposes them and takes Mabel's side.
