Der Rebell is a documentary by director Jan Peter about the former German neo-Nazi Odfried Hepp .

action

The film begins with the following quote:

"The greatest puzzle is man himself."

The documentary traces the biography of Odfried Hepp. In the film, the most wanted right-wing terrorist reports publicly for the first time about his life as a neo-Nazi , at the same time a fighter for the Palestinian Liberation Front (PLF) and an unofficial employee of the GDR state security service . The film dispenses with simple answers in the presentation and nevertheless reveals the background to the viewer.

Awards

The Rebel is one of 14 films selected by AG DOK together with German films and the Goethe-Instituts Japan and Korea for the film series "Facing the Past" at the 2007 Yamagata Documentary Film Festival .

The film was also shown in German documentary film series in Tokyo and Kyoto (Japan) and Seoul (South Korea).
