The vortex of death (original title: Taken at the Flood ) is a long episode from the tenth season of the British television series Agatha Christie's Poirot from 2006 by Andy Wilson . It is the film adaptation of the 1948 novel by Agatha Christie .
action
Hercule Poirot is called to investigate the death of Gordon Cloade, as he was killed in a gas explosion. He has bequeathed a sizable legacy to be given to his young wife, Rosaleen. Many of the Cloade family are not at all happy about this, as they were financially dependent on Gordon Cloade. Now they approach the good-natured Rosaleen. However, there is still her brother David. He is domineering and utterly adamant about wealth. When an elderly gentleman turns up who claims that Rosaleen's deceased first husband is still alive and that the marriage between Rosaleen and Gordon is invalid, events start rolling. The next day, Poirot stands in front of a corpse that has obviously been slain. He wonders how to interpret the many indications and what the real interests of the actors are. Wasn't the gas explosion an accident at all? Were Rosaleen and her brother blackmailed?
