The Christianental (also called Christianenthal ) in the Harz is a forest-lined side valley of the Mühlental in the urban area of Wernigerode in the Harz district , Saxony-Anhalt .

Geographical location

The Christianental is located in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt nature park northeast of the Wernigerode district of Nöschenrode . It is located between the western Agnesberg ( 395.1  m ), with the west of it on the castle hill standing Wernigerode Castle , and the eastern Fenstermacher Mountain ( 466.5  m ). history

The Christianental was called Tillen- or Dillenthal until the 18th century . It belonged to the zoo of the Counts of Stolberg and was named after the ruling Count Christian Ernst of Stolberg-Wernigerode . The Jennyhaus was built here as early as 1800 . This was followed by a log cabin in the Tyrolean style, in which the zoo keeper lived. As a side income, he entertained guests in the summer. Today's forest restaurant emerged from this.
