occupation

The Fall of the Alpine Country Part One is an Austrian short film from 1974. The production was first broadcast on the ORF television series Impulse on November 17, 1974.

action

The framework for the satirical short film is a kind of “Tyrolean world tale”, which (based on the biblical creation story Genesis ) focuses on the creation of the world with Tyrol - here “the Alpine country”. Pirchner receives the order from God to keep the "Alpine country" "clean". The following sheet of images, with no content, on pieces from the 1973 LP "A half double album" by Werner Pirchner shows superficial clichés of the classic homeland film and alienates them. In the end, Pirchner is “punished” for his “blasphemous” actions: the “voice of God” forces him to commit suicide by jumping into a mountain lake. The film combines elements of satirical film with the music of Werner Pirchner. In many places it is reminiscent of the work of Monty Python , which was only briefly known in German-speaking countries in the mid-1970s.

Awards

The film won first prize at the Linz Short Film Festival in 1976.
