The Dermatophagoides farinae peptidase 1 (Der f 1) is an enzyme from the group of cysteine proteases and is produced by the American house dust mite Dermatophagoides farinae . It is one of the major house dust allergens of the people , as well as its homologues Der p 1 from the European house dust mite Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus and Eur m 1 out of Mayne-dust mite Euroglyphus maynei .
properties
As a cysteine protease, p 1 has the amino acid cysteine in its active center . It is an endopeptidase and preferentially hydrolyzes peptides with a hydrophobic or basic amino acid at position P2. The release occurs fecally .
