The Merry War (Quadrille)

The Merry War is a quadrille by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 402). It was performed for the first time on February 14, 1882 in the Sofienbad Hall in Vienna.

Remarks

The work was compiled based on the motifs of the operetta The Merry War , which premiered in 1881 . It thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 397 , 398 , 399 , 400 , 401 , 403 , 404 , 405 and 407 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The Quadrille was premiered on the occasion of the carnival ball of the journalists' association Concordia together with the Schnellpolka either - or on February 14, 1882 in the Sofienbad-Saal under the direction of Eduard Strauss .
