The wiser gives in is a polka mazurka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 401). The work was performed for the first time on March 19, 1882 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The polka was put together based on motifs from the operetta The Merry War . The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 397 , 398 , 399 , 400 , 402 , 403 , 404 , 405 and 407 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. The title topic appears in the operetta score right at the end of No. 1. There this text is sung. The world premiere took place as part of a Sunday concert by Eduard Strauss and was also conducted by him.

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 4 minutes and 53 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
