Derek Fell

Derek Fell (born September 28, 1939 in England ) is an English photographer and author of books on travel, art and gardens.

Life

Fell trained in England and worked as a newspaper reporter for the Shrewsbury Chronicle Group for three years before working for the largest seed company in England for seven years. During these years he started photography as a hobby, which over time developed into a livelihood.

In 1964 Fell was invited to Pennsylvania to work as a photographer on the catalog for Burpee Seeds in Doylestown , Bucks County . After another six years, he became director of the US national semen research institute . Since then he has designed more than 60 books and calendars about gardens, some of which are also available in German. His archive with more than 150,000 recordings is often used in other publications.

Another activity for Fell is the design and design of gardens, for example the Magnolia Plantation and Garden in Charleston County in South Carolina in the USA. He also lectures in various museums in the country and writes articles for architecture and garden magazines, for example for the magazine of the Royal Horticultural Society in Great Britain .

Fell is married. The couple have three grown children, all of whom have artistic professions. His Pennsylvania home, Cedaridge Farm , in Bucks County is open to the public for tours.
