Dermonecrotic toxin (DT) is a protein from Bordetella sp. and a microbial exotoxin .

properties

The dermonecrotic toxin is produced by Bordetella bronchiseptica and Bordetella parapertussis . It is an AB toxin and belongs to the group of cytotoxic necrotising factors , as does CNF1 . DT is a virulence factor in infections with Bordetella sp. in man. DT leads to the formation of actin stress fibers and focal adhesion by deamination or amination of the amino acid glutamine at position 63 on the GTPase Rho , whereby Rho becomes constitutively active. Uptake into cells occurs through clathrin-mediated endocytosis . DT is instrumental in the development of atrophic rhinitis in pigs, along with the Pasteurella multocida toxin from Pasteurella multocida .
