Despise the Sun is a mini-album by the New York death metal band Suffocation .
History of origin
After the band had already split up after the release of the album Pierced from Within in 1995, they tried a new beginning with this album in 1998. The band founded their own label for this release, Vulture Records, on which, however, no other releases were made. The album was re-released in 2000 through Relapse Records and presented to a wide audience for the first time. The band broke up after the mini album was released. The band was not re-founded until 2003.
Music genre
The music is not as technical as on the previous album. Grindcore influences are increasingly flowing into the music. The individual music tracks are shorter than older material. The song Catatonia comes from the debut album Human Waste and was re-recorded.
