Deuteronomy - The Day of Judgment is a Swiss Independent - splatter film by Roger Grolimund . It was published in 2003 and was best known for Olaf Ittenbach's special effects .

action

Michael Luhser, the name speaks for itself, is a loser who receives little in life. He doesn't get any recognition at work and his private life is also dreary. Suddenly he gets a visit from an angel and his life changes suddenly. The angel in the form of a woman commands him to punish people who have violated the ten commandments from the book of Deuteronomy . His life now gets a meaning and he begins a campaign of revenge.

First he executes a pickpocket, then his greedy boss follows. His actions do not go unnoticed, the local police inspector is on his heels. Nevertheless, he can continue to judge. In between his actions he is encouraged to continue judging by the angel, whom he probably only imagines. A suitor and a prostitute are his next victims. In the end, he kills the chemist Dr. West (a nod to the film Re-Animator ) who conducted experiments on his own lap dog.

In the end, the inspector finds out about him. When he confronts Michael, the angel finally drops him. Michael turns his shotgun on himself and kills himself with a shot in the head.

background

Worldwide distribution took place in 2003 on DVD through the independent film company Swiss Independent Films. The German filmmaker Olaf Ittenbach is responsible for the relatively bloody special effects.

reception

Dennis Pelzer from the horror and splatter fanzine Gory News described the film as above average and especially emphasized the "mostly very hard and numerous F / X" by Olaf Ittenbach. The technical staging was also successful. As negative points he cited the actual story and the not very multifaceted script.
