The German Council Presidency designates Germany's presidency of the Council of Ministers of the EU for the second half of 2020. Germany starts the tenth trio together with Portugal and Slovenia . It is the thirteenth presidency of the founding member of the EU and all of its predecessors, and follows the presidency of Croatia . During the German Presidency, the preparations for the next multiannual financial framework of the European Union for the years 2021 to 2027 will be on the agenda. Other topics include overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic , Brexit , the European Green Deal , asylum policy and the abolition of summer time .
Priorities of the German EU Council Presidency
Under the motto “Together. Make Europe strong again ", the German Presidency focuses on:
- the permanent overcoming of the corona crisis and economic recovery
- a stronger and more innovative Europe
- a just and sustainable Europe
- a Europe of security and common values
- a strong Europe in the world
logo
In the center of the logo of the German Council Presidency is a loop-shaped Möbius strip . This has only one edge and one surface. At which point or in which direction you start, the Möbius strip always merges into itself. The band should stand for an integrative and innovative Europe in which people and interests come together to form a common whole. It represents a Europe of connectedness and solidarity.
The design comes from the agency Zum golden Hirschen .
Sponsorship
In contrast to some of the previous Council Presidencies, the German EU Council Presidency 2020 does without sponsors of any kind.
Reactions
