German Society for Computer-Aided Dentistry

The German Society for Computer Aided Dentistry was founded. V. (DGCZ) in January 1992 in Frankfurt am Main by seven committed CEREC users.

It was founded in an environment that ridiculed digital dentistry as exotic and negligible. A scientific society of practically active dentists should be formed with the declared aim of securing an appropriate place for computer-aided procedures in scientific dentistry. In the meantime, computer-aided dentistry has established itself as an integral part of dentistry. Today the association has around 2000 members, making it one of the largest dental societies in Germany.

tasks

In the more than 20 years of its existence, the tasks of the association have changed from a one-time support organization for CEREC users (the only procedure of this kind for many years) to a well-networked society in the organized dental profession that works on many levels for the digital processes involved in diagnostics, documentation and therapy. Basic and advanced training of colleagues, initiation of legal opinions, preparation of billing aids, the publication and maintenance of the International Journal of Computerized Dentistry and the support of the international sister companies are some of the most important tasks today.

Memberships

The association has been an associated member of the DGZMK (German Society for Dentistry, Oral and Maxillofacial Medicine) for several years and also has a seat on the extended board. As part of the DGZMK, the DGCZ is the competent contact for digital procedures in dentistry and also for the rapidly growing field of e-learning. The DGCZ is also a founding member and today the society with the largest number of members in the ISCD (International Society of Computerized Dentistry).

Cooperations

Fruitful collaborations contribute to networking, e.g. B. with the working group ceramics, the German Society for Aesthetic Dentistry (DGÄZ) and some dental associations of the working group X-ray in the DGZMK and several universities as well as the dental academy in Karlsruhe.

Annual conference / master's course

The DGCZ annual conference - also known as the CEREC master course - takes place every autumn at different locations and is also very popular as a “family reunion” because of its practice-oriented program with individual workshops, live treatments on the stage and hands-on training scientific lectures of high relevance.

DDS GmbH Digital Dental Services (Berlin) is a subsidiary of DGCZ (German Society for Computer-Aided Dentistry eV) and as such is responsible for the organization and administration of the DGCZ training courses.
