The first competition, the men's 10 kilometers, was won by Ferry Weertman from the Netherlands, ahead of Rob Muffels from Magdeburg (1: 59.30.97) and Alexander Studzinski from Wiesbaden (1: 59.33.29).

The men's 5 kilometers at the end of the championships ended with a photo decision: The new German champion Sören Meißner was three hundredths of a second ahead of Rob Muffels. Third here was the 10 km winner Weertman.

The double winner Finnia Wunram had to contend with waves in both competitions due to the windy weather. That cost her and her competitors to meet the DSV qualification standard for the 2015 World Swimming Championships in Kazan . Wunram won over 5 km ahead of Patricia-Lucia Wartenberg (1: 02.44.51) and Svenja Zihsler (1: 02.54.61). Over 10 km, Zihsler from Würzburg came second (2: 06.45.20) ahead of Sarah Bosslet from Saarland (2: 08.20.99).
