After the first German baker's choirs had been founded in 1878, including the choral society of the master bakers Hannover-Linden , the German Bakers' Association was founded in 1925.

In the post-war period , the German Bäckersängerbund opened all international baking exhibitions (iba) with a large choir concert.

In 2020, ten regional singers' associations and one women's choir were affiliated to the DBSB . More than 1000 singers and around 250 female singers sang in a total of 50 baker choirs, many of them in mixed choirs.
