Rural idyll in Portitz

The table on land use shows that Plaußig-Portitz is a multifaceted district. The high proportion of industry results mainly from the large area of the BMW plant in the north of Plaussig. But the industrial park in between also contributes to this.

From the formerly purely rural character of the two earlier villages, a good quarter of agricultural land has remained. This is mainly used by Saat-Gut Plaussig Voges KG, which emerged from the former Volksgut Plaußig.

In addition to the two old village centers, which have retained their rural character, the proportion of the living space results primarily from the settlements built in the 1930s southeast of old Portitz, such as Moränen-, Kögel-, Krätzberg- and Teichsiedlung, which are reminiscent of a garden city . After 1990, the An der Fasanerie settlement was built in Plaußig and the Parkstadt 2000 residential area in Portitz.

The Parthe flows through Plaußig-Portitz from east to west , which marks the border between Plaussig and Portitz with small deviations. In addition to the Grundstraße as a connection between Plaußig and Portitz, there is also the old Portitzmühlenweg.

The course of the Parthe is lined with meadows and the remains of an alluvial forest. This used to be a popular excursion destination for the people of Leipzig. The bank area with a width of about 500 meters belongs to the Parthenaue-Machern nature reserve. The Plaussig village pond, which is around one hectare in size, is designated as a fishing lake.
