Members are companies that extract or process lignite in Germany, as well as companies and organizations that are involved in the recultivation of opencast mines or are involved in the lignite industry as plant manufacturers , suppliers or in some other way. The regular members include Lausitz Energie Bergbau AG , RWE Power AG , LMBV , MIBRAG and Romonta .

The club's goal is z. B. To de-legitimize climate protection measures that threaten the business model of the lignite industry. Among other things, the association warns of the high costs of phasing out coal from its point of view . According to information from the ARD magazine Plusminus and Lobbycontrol , the association also uses Astroturfing campaigns for its PR work. So exist z. B. close personal, organizational and content-related similarities with the independent citizens' initiative Our area - Our future - An Rur and Erft , DEBRIV and RWE . In addition, the citizens' initiative, the association and the Ring Deutscher Bergingenieure shared the same mailbox ; The internet site of the citizens' initiative is also registered at the address of DEBRIV and the district association Rheinische Braunkohle.
