from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The German Internet Prize is a business prize awarded from 2000 to 2008 for best practice solutions from medium-sized companies . It was initiated by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology and awarded by the BMWi until 2005 (from 2002 to 2005 under the name of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Labor ). From 2006, the Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM) together with other cooperation partners took over the award, the BMWi continued to be the patron.

Companies can apply themselves with an online presentation if they

  • employ no more than 500 people,
  • have their main development and production location in Germany,
  • are not majority-owned by non-medium-sized companies.

A jury made up of representatives from business, science and the media evaluates the degree of innovation and originality, economic success and the role model function for medium-sized companies and decides on the winners. The prize is awarded in three categories and was initially endowed with 100,000 DM / 50,000 euros each, from 2006 with 50,000 euros each and from 2007 with 25,000 euros, 20,000 euros and 15,000 euros.
