General

The Rudolph Logistik Gruppe is a global logistics service provider with headquarters in Baunatal, in the middle of Germany . Rudolph now has 38 locations in Germany, Europe and on the Arabian Peninsula . The group of companies consists of several smaller companies and focuses on the business areas of automotive logistics , system transport , industrial logistics , fulfillment and consumer goods logistics .

history

On November 13, 1946, Justus Rudolph laid the foundation stone for the Rudolph Logistics Group by founding a transport company in Guntershausen . The first few years were particularly difficult, because in what was then post-war Germany , the procurement of suitable vehicles, oil and diesel was almost impossible. The sons Hans and Karl supported their father and built a truck with a wood gasifier from old stock. A year later, they officially joined the company. In the first few years, the then small company focused on the construction industry . A groundbreaking step was the beginning of cooperation with the automotive industry in 1957 . Rudolph & Söhne took over the regional freight forwarding for Volkswagen for the area of North Hesse , South Lower Saxony and parts of East Westphalia . A groupage business emerged as a further business area and developed into a second pillar.

In 1969 Justus Rudolph retired and left the company management to his sons. In the years to come, they brought their sons Jürgen Rudolph and Werner Rudolph with them to the company. In addition, Gottfried Kretschmar, Hans Rudolph's son-in-law, also got into the business. After a few years, the three of them agreed on an efficient division of labor: while Jürgen Rudolph took on the focus on transport, Werner Rudolph took care of the groupage business and Gottfried Kretschmer took care of finances, administration and personnel.

At the beginning of the 1970s, new locations were constantly emerging. Rudolph Logistik became international and spread across the borders of Germany. It all started with transports to Belgium. Deliveries to Antwerp, transports from Petras in Greece or trips to Sarajevo and Brussels followed a short time later.

Hans Rudolph died in 1983. Jürgen Rudolph, Werner Rudolph and Gottfried Kretschmer took over the management of the company, and in the course of this the company structure also changed. Rudolph & Söhne Internationale Spedition GmbH & Co. KG emerged from the previously existing OHG .

With the takeover of four branches of the LOG SPED group in 1997, the number of employees doubled overnight to 800. This takeover strengthened the automotive branch in particular and laid the foundation for the new consumer goods division .

In 2000, Rudolph founded various joint ventures with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics and implemented various automotive logistics projects in Great Britain. Branches in Luxembourg and Portugal followed. The new business field Fulfillment emerged from the increased expansion of online trading .

In cooperation with Audi Volkswagen Middle East (AVME) and the joint venture partner Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, Rudolph opened a new logistics center in Dubai (United Arab Emirates) in 2007. In addition, Torsten Rudolph - great-grandson of the company's founder Justus Rudolph - joined the company and, together with his father Jürgen Rudolph, became managing partners of the Rudolph Logistics Group. At the end of 2008, Werner Rudolph gradually retired from his functions.

In the first few years, Torsten Rudolph devoted himself to reorganizing the company. In 2008 the company structured itself across locations according to business areas. The focus is on the five areas of automotive logistics , system transport , industrial logistics , fulfillment and consumer goods logistics .
