As part of the German Musical Theater Prize 2014 , an award was presented to the dancer, choreographer, actor and musical director Helmut Baumann for the first time for his achievements in the musical field on May 5, 2014 in the foyer of the Komische Oper Berlin after the selection by a jury in September 2014 . The award ceremony was moderated by Thomas Hermanns .

Awarding

Helmut Baumann was honored because, according to Norbert Hunecke, chairman of the German Musical Academy, he “cultivated and established the musical genre like no other in Germany”. Under Baumann's direction, the Theater des Westens succeeded in establishing itself as one of the leading musical theaters in Germany in the 1980s and 1990s, and Baumann had helped many performers to get their careers. The award ceremony on May 5, 2014 took place in the presence of Baumann's companions Ruth Brauer-Kvam , Daniela Ziegler and Angelika Milster .
