German Musical Theater Prize 2015
As part of the German Musical Theater Prize 2015 , awards were presented to 13 winners for their achievements in the musical field on October 26, 2015 during a gala in the tipi at the Chancellery in Berlin after the selection by a jury in September 2015. The award ceremony was moderated by Katharine Mehrling and Thomas Hermanns .
Participation and selection process
For the German Musical Theater Prize 2015, German-language musical premieres that were produced by a professional theater or production company in German, were not a compilation show, were not performed publicly before the competition period from August 15, 2014 to August 14, 2015, during the competition period Premiere and at least 10 performances were played. At the end of the competition period, the jury of experts selected the nominees from 22 participating productions in 13 categories, which were presented to the public on August 20, 2015. The expert jury and the 171 full members of the German Musical Academy then selected the winners in a secret postal vote, with 50% of the weight of the vote each going to the expert jury and members.

Honorary award
Weck was recognized for its outstanding performance in the musical field. He was largely responsible for the distribution of musicals such as Cats , Les Misérables and Das Phantom der Oper in German-speaking countries, which established the commercial success of this division and established the German-language premieres of successful British musicals during his artistic directorship at the Theater an der Wien from 1983. The laudation at the award ceremony was held by the singer Angelika Milster .

The prize was accepted by three of the young actors on behalf of the 40-strong children's ensemble.
