German Order of the NSDAP

The German Order belongs to the group of decorations of the NSDAP . From 1943 onwards it was the highest distinction of the National Socialist German Reich .

The badge is one of the anti-constitutional propaganda means in Germany . It is forbidden to create, carry or distribute it in public.

The medal, donated by party leader Adolf Hitler , was first awarded posthumously to Fritz Todt on February 12, 1942 . According to Hitler, the order should “honor the highest merits [...] that a German can acquire for his people.” According to Hitler, there were “achievements for which under certain circumstances no promotion can be awarded. The deeds of 200 bearers of the Knight's Cross do not outweigh a one-time achievement such as that of Todt , for example . ”A chapter was also planned for this order , consisting of a council and a court.

The design for the medal came from Benno von Arent , the only manufacturer was Wilhelm Deumer in Lüdenscheid .

The National Socialist order consists of a black enameled and gold-rimmed Iron Cross, which bears the golden party badge of the NSDAP in the middle . There are golden sovereign eagles between the wings. A golden laurel wreath with two overlying crossed swords stands above the cross bar . At the top of the laurel wreath stand two golden oak leaves at right angles, above which the national emblem and the ribbon ring are attached. The 44 mm wide ribbon of the Teutonic Order has the colors of the blood order ribbon , but it is 34 mm wide. In the prototype of the neck decoration, the eagles sat without a swastika on a laurel wreath with a swastika.

The "Teutonic Order" is one of the National Socialist orders whose leadership in Germany is not permitted in any form under the 1957 Law on Titles, Medals and Decorations of Honor .
