The coach is responsible for the process in which the client gains new knowledge and develops alternative courses of action. The interaction of his actions in and with his environment becomes clear to the client. "

Association membership

According to its own information, the association has almost 1,600 members in 2019. The prerequisite for membership (as a coach, as a trainer or as a coach and trainer) is the fulfillment of specified criteria with regard to age, professional suitability with regard to coaching or trainer training and expertise with regard to professional experience and studies or professional training.

Certifications

Since 2004 it has offered its members the option of certification . In 2017 there were around 900 dvct-certified coaches and trainers.

In order to achieve certification, membership in the dvct is required, a written elaboration on its approach to be presented, a live demonstration of a coaching or training situation to be shown and a technical discussion to be completed.

In addition to the dvct, there are several other coaching associations that offer their own certifications.

further activities

In 2008 the association presented its ethics guidelines for coaching and training. Before that, in 2007 the German Federal Association of Coaching (DBVC) presented a compendium of coaching as a profession , which also contains a code of ethics. The forerunner of these efforts was the International Coach Federation with its own code of conduct .

Since 2010 the association has presented the “Coach & Trainer Award” every year.

Together with the Professional Association of German Psychologists , the German Society for Supervision and Coaching , the Systemic Society and other associations with fewer members in Germany, the dvct is a member of the round table of German coaching associations.

history

The association was founded in 2003; Shortly after this establishment, further associations were founded that also stated the goal of quality assurance: in January 2004 the German Federal Coaching Association (DBVC) and also in January 2004 the Professional Coaching Association (ProC).

In Germany there is no overarching umbrella organization for coaching associations. A dispute between the DBVC and the associations ICF, dvct and QRC, which were represented in the roundtable at the time, on the question of an umbrella organization flared up briefly in 2007 and was then settled with a reference to further cooperation between the associations.

Structure of the association

The association has the following organs: the general assembly , the board of directors , the advisory board , the certification commission and the arbitration board . In accordance with the statutes, the members of these bodies are all volunteers. The general assembly elects the members of all other organs. The Advisory Board advises the Executive Board on strategic issues, consists of a maximum of five members and meets at least once a year.

Susanne Lübben is currently the chairman of the dvct.
