The 30th German Gymnastics Festival took place from May 31 to June 7, 1998 in Munich . Around 100,000 athletes took part in the event under the motto "German Gymnastics Festival - We are there!" The then Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl opened the gymnastics festival , which took place in the entire Olympic Park . The Bayerische Rundfunk , first published information on the Internet and the BR-gala was broadcast on ARD program.
