International German Gymnastics Festival 2013

The International German Gymnastics Festival 2013 took place from May 18 to 25, 2013 in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region . The motto was "Life in motion - the 2013 Gymnastics Festival". The German President Joachim Gauck was the patron .

Planning and awarding

On November 22nd, 2008 the German Gymnastics Association announced in Frankfurt am Main that the 2013 International German Gymnastics Festival will take place in the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region (MRN). In the long history of the event, for the first time not just a city but an entire region was named as the host, so the gymnastics festival was held in the triangle of Hesse , Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate and the cities were Mannheim , Heidelberg , Ludwigshafen am Rhein and 19 other cities. Apart from the grassroots, it planned the German championships in the elite sports athletics , rhythmic gymnastics , aerobics , wheel gymnastics , artistic gymnastics and sports acrobatics to organize.

mascot

On September 27, 2012, the President of the German Gymnastics Federation, Rainer Brechtken , together with the Lord Mayors of the Gymnastics Festival Centers in Mannheim and Heidelberg, Peter Kurz and Dr. Eckart Würzner , as well as Ludwigshafen am Rhein, Mayor Wolfgang van Vliet , presented the official mascot at a press conference. At this point the mascot did not have a name. It was later christened Fred. Fred was eight feet tall, had black eyes, and had big feet. Fred couldn't speak, but he understood almost everything.

On Saturday, May 18, 2013, the international gymnastics festival was officially opened in front of around 500 invited guests in the Rosengarten Congress Center in Mannheim. The DOSB President Dr. In his opening speech, Thomas Bach emphasized the great importance of the German gymnastics movement "as an important cornerstone" of German sport, in which he too made his first movement experiences as a child. After several keynote speakers, there was a sporty show part and a musical program item.

Pageant

On the first day there was a pageant with over 9,000 participants from around 900 German and international associations through Mannheim city center.

Ecumenical gymnastics festival service

On Monday, May 20, 2013 the Kaiserdom opened its gates in Speyer for the ecumenical gymnastics festival service.

Stadium gala closing ceremony

The closing ceremony took place on May 24, 2013 in the Carl-Benz-Stadion in Mannheim, and a positive conclusion was drawn. The stadium gala took place once in the afternoon and once in the evening.
